Dr. Campbell- getting to know the doctor.
New mother? Feeling lost with feeding? Schedule a consultation, let's get you the help you need to succeed.

Have you ever left a doctor's appointment feeling like you were on a conveyor belt? You wait for an hour, see the provider for 15 minutes, and leave with half of your questions still unanswered. During the vulnerable postpartum period, this rushed experience can feel especially disheartening. When you’re navigating the complexities of infant feeding and your own recovery, you deserve to be heard, seen, and given time.

This is the core philosophy behind our practice. We intentionally schedule 60- to 90-minute appointments because we believe that true physician-level care isn’t just about expertise—it’s about having the time to apply it. An unrushed appointment isn’t a luxury—it’s the foundation of comprehensive medicine and exceptional postpartum care.

What Does "Physician-Level Care" Actually Mean?

While a lactation consultation is incredibly valuable for troubleshooting issues such as latch and positioning, physician-level care goes even deeper. As a board-certified pediatrician, neonatologist, and lactation medicine physician, I bring a medical diagnostic lens to your challenges. This means I’m not just looking at the mechanics of feeding—I’m evaluating the complete health of both you and your baby (the dyad) to identify any underlying medical root causes for the issues you're facing.

But this level of investigation is impossible in a 15-minute time slot. Our 90-minute visits allow us to provide truly comprehensive care.

The Power of an Unrushed Appointment

So, what happens during a 90-minute visit that can’t happen in a shorter one? Everything. We replace the rushed checklist with a thorough, compassionate, and investigative process.

A Full and Complete History

We start by listening. I want to hear your whole story—your pregnancy, your delivery, your postpartum experience, and your baby’s journey so far. We’ll discuss both of your medical histories in detail, because often, the clue to a feeding issue lies in a detail that might otherwise be overlooked.

A Comprehensive Medical Exam

We conduct a thorough examination of you and your baby as medically indicated, which includes a detailed oral assessment to identify potential issues, such as tongue-tie, and a careful breast exam for you. A comprehensive physical assessment of both members of the dyad is crucial for an accurate diagnosis.

Time for Observation and Support

We have time to observe a full feeding session without pressure. We can try different positions, address your concerns at the moment, and create a plan that feels right for you. There is no "one size fits all" approach here.

Space for All Your Questions

Bring your list! The long one you have typed out on your phone. The questions that pop into your head at 3 a.m. An unrushed appointment means you can ask every single one and receive a thoughtful, evidence-based answer. You will leave feeling informed and empowered, not confused.

We also offer 5 days of SMS messaging following your visit to clarify questions you may have, and a HIPAA-compliant personal portal with direct access to me, where you can share photos and videos about breast and nipple conditions or latch.
