At Bloom & Grow, we provide the latest insights on breastfeeding, infant development, and perinatal mental health to support families in joy during this rewarding yet demanding phase of life.

  • What services do you offer?
    We offer specialized care in: Lactation Medicine: Expert support for breastfeeding challenges, from latch issues to low supply, pain, and beyond. Newborn Medicine: Comprehensive care for your baby’s health, feeding, and early development, all with a breastfeeding-centered approach.
  • What is Lactation Medicine?
    Lactation Medicine is a medical specialty and medical board certification that addresses the full spectrum of breastfeeding-related concerns for mom and baby. We work alongside lactation consultants and other professionals in the community. Dr. Campbell is a board certified pediatrician, neonatologist and lactation medicine physician. Breastfeeding Medicine sub specialists are physicians. We can evaluate, diagnose and treat complex medical problems that may arise. We provide evidence-based care that includes labs, imagining, prescriptions, procedures, referrals and treatments if necessary.
  • Where are you located and how do I make an appointment?

We are located in beautiful Ridgeland, MS located between Jackson and Madison right off I-55.   • When should I schedule a consultation?
    You can schedule a visit: During pregnancy – to prepare for breastfeeding and build confidence After birth – for help with latch, milk supply, pain, or any concerns Anytime in your breastfeeding journey – we’re here for every stage
  • What if I’m not sure if I need help?
    If you’re feeling uncertain, that’s okay. Many parents wait too long to ask for help—you don’t have to struggle alone. A consultation can bring peace of mind, practical solutions, and personalized support for whatever stage you're in
  • Do you only see breastfeeding families?
    While our focus is breastfeeding, we support all families—whether you're exclusively nursing, pumping, combo feeding, or using formula. Our goal is to help you make informed choices that feel right for you and your baby.
  • Can I use my health insurance?
    Coverage may vary by insurance, but we bill most major insurance plans, including Mississippi Medicaid. We use physician level diagnosis and procedure codes as medically necessary. If you prefer self pay, please let us know and we can provide you the cost of these services. Feel free to reach out at 601-427-0777 for specific questions.
  • Can I bring my partner or support person to the visit?
    Absolutely! We encourage the involvement of your partner or support team. Breastfeeding is a family journey, and having your support system involved can make a big difference.
  • Do you offer support maternal mental health support?
    Yes. Dr. Campbell is trained and certified in perinatal mental health certified (PMH-C). We understand that emotional well-being is deeply connected to breastfeeding and parenting success. We provide a safe, supportive space to talk about postpartum mood concerns and connect you with further resources and treat with medications if needed.
  • What makes Bloom and Grow Lactation unique?
    We are the only practice in Mississippi led by a board-certified breastfeeding medicine physician, Dr. Leigh Campbell, who is also a pediatrician, neonatologist, and lactation medicine specialist. Dr. Campbell brings a rare combination of medical knowledge and lived experience as a breastfeeding mother. Dr. Campbell graduated from St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Ridgeland, MS in 1995. She completed her four year degree with a BS in Biology at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Dr. Campbell's medical training began at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) where she met her husband. She completed a pediatric residency at UMMC and a fellowship in neonatology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB). The is among the first group of physicians in North America to become board certified in lactation medicine.
  • Does Dr. Campbell see patients as a general pediatrician?
    Although Dr. Campbell is trained board certified as a pediatrician and neonatologist, she is not a medical home for general pediatrics. Dr. Campbell works collaboratively with your pediatrician, family medicine physician and OB.
  • Does Dr. Campbell treat ankyloglossia or "tongue-tie"
    Yes. Dr. Campbell evaluates each mother and baby dyad carefully to determine if baby's oral structures are contributing to breastfeeding difficulties, and if it will be better managed by a procedure or by non-invasive interventions. Dr. Campbell follows the evidence-based American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Guidelines "Identification and management of ankyloglossia and its effect on breastfeeding infants." Dr. Campbell determines if a frenotomy procedure is medically necessary. There is no additional charge for the visit. Procedures for "lip ties" and "cheek ties" are not recommended for the indication of breastfeeding support and care.
